DJ Maphorisa Credits Himself For These 3 Kabza’s Milestone. Scorpion Kings collaboration between Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa has been a success since they became the giants of amapiano releasing timeless music and revolutionising the amapiano sound as well as explore new sounds. It has been 3 years since the duo decided to collaborate and their success within the amapiano scene is visible.
So many times, people have mistakenly thought Maphorisa was leeching on Kabza De Small, but that isn’t really the case as it seems both producers benefit for their joint partnership, while Phori get a chance to enter and dominate the Amapiano scene, Kabza got the influence, fame and riches he always dreamed of. Revealing Kabza’s progress some their partnership some three years ago, DJ Maphorisa took to social media and said: “When i say Madumane ke Ghost i mean it. 5 cars n a 5 million house its been wat 3 years now working together. Visionary. Ke Piano.”
Kabza De Small owns a R5 Million house and 5 luxurius cars that he sometimes show off on his Instagram account. Not only has Kabza achieved the expensive house, cars and lifestyle, he has done well for himself in the music industry including opening his own record label.
Speakin on how he met Kabza De Small, Phori said: “Live gigs helped me evolve and stay on top of things on the streets. Before organising a gig, I would always ask: “Who’s popping? What’s going on? What’s new on the scene?” Once in 2018, before doing a show in Soweto, I asked, “Who’s upcoming?” And the streets responded with a conclusive, “Stokie and Kabza”. So I booked them. Kabza had a hot single at the time, “Umshove,” and I immediately suggested that we work together. His friend also told me how he’d been a huge fan of my music from the Uhuru era. But with amapiano, I didn’t want to interfere much by introducing too many new elements. I was already a fan of the sound. Back at the studio with Kabza, I would study him while he did his thing and then step in where I’m mostly good at — songwriting and recording vocals. We had two different chemistries that benefitted from each other. We really vibed in studio, and as a result, composed a lot of music and experimented with new sounds.”
