10 Things You Should Know About Oscar Mbo. South African podcaster, producer, and house DJ best known for his founding and starring roles in The Ashmed Hour show. Oscar specialises in multiple house sub-genres namely; Deep House, Soulful House, Deep Tech, Nu-Jazz, Broken Beats, Lounge, Chill Out Music, and now he is one of the amapiano pioneers. Rising to fame, considering his life story, Oscar Mbo is admirable, with many fans looking up to him for inspiration.

Here are 10 things you should know about Oscar Mbo:

1 Oscar Mbo’ real name is Oscar Mbongeni Ndlovu.

2 He was born in Pretoria and raised in a small mining town in Mpumalanga called Kriel, west of Witbank. 

3 He joined Kriel High School in 2005, where he completed his secondary education in 2009.

4 He then proceeded to join the University of South Africa in 2010, where he trained to become an occupational health and safety professional until 2013.

5 Oscar has also played alongside Kuniyuki Takahashi, Lars Beherenroth, Rocco, Jullian Gomes, DJ Christos, Black Coffee, Vinny Da Vinci & Fistaz Mixwell to mention a few.

6 Oscar’s passion for house music drove him to start the podcast called, The Ashamed Hour on Podomatic.

7 He became a featured guest in different television and radio shows. In 2015, Oscar became a part of DJ Strategy’s TV show production and continued in the Hit Refresh on Vuzu experience until 2017.

8 The DJ is a member of the notorious Golden Boys Entertainment trio, a favourite for hosting events with high entertainment value. Oscar came up with the idea of forming this renowned label in 2010, a year after matriculating. He was 19 years old when he had his first gig.

9 In 2019, Oscar dropped his debut album ‘Golden Power’, and the same year, Oscar Mbo went international after landing a tour beyond South African borders.

10 His latest offering, For The Groovists album has earned a nod at the SAMAs.
