Following the success of the 63rd Grammy Awards on Sunday night, March 14 2021; amapiano was trending on social media, as some South African music lovers were saying that Amapiano’s hits deserve a Grammy too.
Well, the Amapiano genre has done a great job in some African countries, and to some parts of the world, and while the nods aren’t that great yet, amapiano is already internationally known and recognised. Not long ago, American stars such as the likes of Usher, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and Diddy were vinning to amapiaano songs, which proves that not only are amapiano tracks keeping Mzansi on their feet, but Americans too.
Songs like Sponono, Umsebenzi Wethu, KeStar and a few other amapiano hits worked well on the music charts. Do you think it’s time for Amapiano’s hits to win a Grammy?
