Pretoria’s youngest and talented Amapiano DJ and music producer Vigro Deep, real name Kamogelo Phetla is one of the biggest amapiano artists at the moment. The star produced the hit song ‘Ke Star’ and the song has reached great heights making waves both locally and internationally. He also dropped a career defining much-awaited 19-track album Rise of Baby Boy in 2019 offering from his Baby Boy series of albums. He has also been announced as one of the DJ’s to perform at the Yam Carnival taking pace in London in August this year.
DJ Maphorisa
DJ Maphorisa is one of the most established amapiano record producer from the time amapiano became popular till date. He has been releasing hits that kept Mzansi on their toes on weekends. Some of the songs he produced have been jammed to by the likes of American rapper Luda Chris and pop musician and dancer Usher. He has worked together with internationally acclaimed star Major Lazer for a collaboration on ‘Particula.’ The song was released back in June 2017 and features the likes of Nasty C, Ice Prince, Patoranking and Jidenna; and was released as a concept of bringing African acts together.

His recent song ‘Sponono’ was recently spotted being jammed to by American pop star Usher, and he has performed in stages all around the world.

Focalistic is a Pitori-born rapper on a journey to take the amapiano sound to the world. The ‘Ke Star’ hitmaker has earned a spot in the amapiano industry with his authenticity. He has been featured on the Times Square billboard in New York and has collaborated with Nigerian afrobeats star Davido for a remix of ‘nationa anthem’ as many fans call it.
Kamo Mphela
Of course, women are also taking the amapiano industry by storm and one that couldn’t be left out is none other than Kamo Mphela, a South African dancer and singer. Kamo recently dropped her long-awaited single “Nkulunkulu”. The song and its accompanying visuals serve as her first official song and release under her company, Kamo Mphela Entertainment. The 21-year old musician just came back from a tour in Nairobi, Kenya, where she performed songs from the forthcoming EP, and recently choreographed Spotify’s African Heat global campaign.
